Dedication is a choice to abandon ourselves to God’s will. It is a decision, backed up by a determination to be all that God wants us to be, not giving in to distractions and discouragements. Romans 12:1 tells us to offer ourselves to God as a holy and acceptable sacrifice to God.
We become what we have decided to become. Mere wishing and thoughts will not bring us to the place of its realization. God notices our decisions of our hearts and the determination of our lives. By this He judges our character. This is what makes us to matter before Him. God knew Abraham’s character. That was why He revealed His thoughts and decisions to him. “Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do… For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord…” Genesis 18:17, 19. Our dedication and devotion reveals to God our character.
Our lives will being great pleasure to God if we have devoted our lives to Him wholeheartedly. Then He can do what He has planned to do through and for us. We can do this by:
1. Walking uprightly in agreement with God’s counsel. Being honestly committed to God in our hearts. Isaiah 33:15; Luke 12:1.
2. Allowing faithfulness to match our commitments. Luke 16: 10-11; 1 Cor. 4:2; 2 Kings 12:15. Faithfulness and dedication is what will keep us going. The substance of our decisions is the willingness to be faithful in the least ordinance of God. Little things that usually go unnoticed are things that can touch the heart of God greatly.
