Many sacrifices we render to God may not speak at the moment. There may not be any sign whatsoever that God takes notice of them. He certainly does. He counts them. However, there is one sacrifice done with extra effort which will bring out the worth of all the sacrifices rendered. Abraham gave above and beyond what was ordinary and God told him, “I swear by myself… that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you…” Genesis 22:16.
Are we wearied because God seems not to be moved by the multitudes of our sacrifices? Persist. Look out for ways to bring greater pleasure to Him. There is always a last straw that will break the camel’s back. “The ultimate test of a man’s conscience is his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations.”
Jesus made up His mind to live all out for God. The culmination of His sacrifice was His death on the cross. That was the purpose why He came to the world. Every other thing He did was making way for this moment. If we are giving our lives to Jesus, we must give it to Him completely, without any reservation. And we should be willing to obey Him implicitly. There would come a challenging moment when we would have to decide whether to obey Christ or take the easier path of ease and comfort.
Let us be encouraged that no service done for the sake of God’s kingdom and glory ever goes in vain. He notices our great burden for His kingdom. He sees our sacrifices and will reward them in due time.
